JUST IN: Mysterious Death of Key Witness in Upper East Drug Theft Case Raises Concerns | Details

The untimely demise of Mercy Alagpulinsa, a middle-aged woman who was seen as a crucial witness in the ongoing criminal trial involving theft of government drugs by three members of the Upper East Regional Hospital’s staff, has sparked suspicions of foul play.

The incident occurred on August 15, 2023, under mysterious circumstances, leaving the community in shock and raising questions about the truth she may have held.

According to reports from Media Without Borders, Alagpulinsa fell suddenly ill and passed away around 10:00 pm at the Upper East Regional Hospital.

She had sought medical attention around 9:00 pm due to a peculiar stomachache but succumbed to her condition roughly an hour later while being treated.

Intriguingly, the deceased had allegedly mentioned to close associates that the husband of one of the accused individuals had approached her, urging her to testify in favor of his wife.

This development has fueled suspicions of an attempt to manipulate her testimony. Sources suggest that Alagpulinsa possessed significant information regarding one of the suspects’ involvement in the drug theft case.

The insider further disclosed, “We, her close associates, suspect foul play. She wasn’t sick. She was only 16 weeks pregnant. And if it was a pregnancy-related problem, she would have been bleeding before dying. But she did not bleed. She was in a serious pain. She just lay on the hospital bed and died. Just like that. We suspect she has died for trying to defend the truth and not a lie.”

The larger backdrop of this incident revolves around the exposure of drug thefts at the Upper East Regional Hospital.

Three members of the hospital’s staff, Bridget Banoeyelle, Fasilat Raheem, and Raymond Asoke, were apprehended following an investigation by Edward Adeti of Media Without Borders.

The culprits had been pilfering government drugs, exacerbating drug shortages in the region and causing harm to patients.

The unexpected passing of a potential witness, under circumstances that raise suspicion, casts a shadow on an already complex and troubling case.

As the trial unfolds and investigations continue, the death of Mercy Alagpulinsa adds a layer of intrigue to the ongoing legal proceedings, amplifying concerns over the integrity of the entire affair.
