The Inside Story of How 19-year-old jailed for 17 years over involvement in GH¢976 robbery case | Details

In a solemn turn of events, 19-year-old Christopher Amoley has been handed a 17-year prison sentence in connection with a high-profile GH¢976 robbery case.

The verdict was reported by United Television (UTV) and unfolded in a courtroom as Police prosecutor Inspector Wisdom Aworlu narrated the details that led to the sentencing.

According to Inspector Aworlu’s account, the incident occurred on August 9, 2023, at approximately 3:30 pm. Christopher Amoley, who was employed at a car wash in Sakumono within the Greater Accra region, confronted Adiza, a woman known to him, brandishing a knife and demanding her bag.

However, Adiza, aware that her bag contained money, refused to relinquish it, triggering an escalation of events.

The situation quickly escalated as Christopher’s frustration mounted, and he resorted to stabbing Adiza in a fit of rage. He seized her bag and fled the scene in haste.

The response of law enforcement was prompt. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Adiza grievously wounded and surrounded by a pool of blood. She was urgently transported to C&J Hospital for immediate medical attention.

With the gravity of the incident apparent, the police launched an intensive manhunt for Christopher Amoley. Ultimately, he was tracked down to a concealed location and apprehended. During his arrest, law enforcement discovered a pistol and a bag containing GH¢976 in his possession.

Subsequently, Christopher was directed to lead the police to his residence. There, a knife stained with blood was discovered in his room, further corroborating the sequence of events.

Under questioning, Christopher admitted his culpability in the stabbing of Adiza. During the court proceedings, he acknowledged his guilt, attributing his actions to the influence of malevolent forces, stating that “the devil manipulated him to engage in such a cruel act.”

In response, Prosecutor Wisdom Aworlu handed down a 17-year prison sentence, condemning Christopher Amoley for his role in the heinous crime. The verdict brings a measure of closure to a distressing incident that shook the community.
